Aktion Club, a distinguished program under the umbrella of Kiwanis International designed for adults with disabilities, celebrated its impactful service contributions during Aktion Club Week. Established in 2020, Aktion Club of Topsail Island has emerged as a beacon of community service, fostering leadership, friendship and fellowship among its members while leaving a lasting mark on Hampstead, Topsail Island, Holly Ridge, Sneads Ferry, Wilmington, and beyond.

Under the sponsorship of the Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area, the Aktion Club of Topsail Island thrives on its mission to empower members to develop initiative and leadership skills through meaningful service projects. Community helps garden bloom, feed hungry

This year the Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area, Surf City in North Carolina, U.S., will mark Celebrate Community week by coming together for a workday in their new community garden — one that truly lives up to the name.

Once it is finished, the Greater Topsail Area Community Garden will play a significant part in alleviating local food insecurity. It has already forged partnerships and brought people closer together — and it all began at the 2022 Kiwanis International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.

Former Club Secretary Cathi Litcher, who now serves as garden coordinator, says she was walking down the street with Treasurer Kimberly Patrizi and then-President Nicki Swafford when Swafford casually suggested starting a community garden for Share the Table, a local organization whose motto is “neighbors feeding neighbors.”….

HAMPSTEAD, Pender County — The Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island, Surf City Rotary Club, and Share the Table are pleased to announce they have received a $10,000 grant from the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, to be used to establish the Greater Topsail Area Community Garden in Hampstead, NC. Through community volunteer leadership, the garden project’s goal is to grow and harvest fresh produce for Share the Table, which feeds neighbors in need in Pender and Onslow Counties.

The partnership between the Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island, Surf City Rotary, and Share the Table reflects a shared commitment to address food insecurity and promote healthy living in our local communities. With the support of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, this project will create a sustainable solution to meet the nutritional needs of families and individuals who struggle to access fresh, healthy food options…..
